Yadda, yadda, yadda, the Lakers won again, yadda, who cares, done! I hate the Lakers, and am sick of seeing them, I hope Kobe retires now. Ron Artest is an ass, and Phil Jackson sucks! The Boston Celtics should have won but the refs always want L.A. to win so they make the worst calls in the NBA to suit them. Need I say any more?

THE WEST:
With the Utah Jazz and being swept in 4 games by the Los Angeles Lakers, and the San Antonio Spurs receiving the same courtesy via the Phoenix Suns, we will now see who the better team in the western conference is in the conference finals. I personallythink that the Suns are better defensively, but can they stop the barrage of big men in the middle that plagued the Jazz so badly with Pao Gasol and Andrew Bynum. The Suns do have a stronger man in the middle than the Jazz in Amare Stoudemire, but can he handle big man the double-team? Steve Nash creates a huge mismatch for L.A. however, there is just no way that Derrick Fisher can guard him, he had the same problem with Deron Williams of the Jazz. I think overall it will come down to someone on the Suns roster being able to shut down Kobe Bryant (if that’s possible). It should be a pretty good series, and I like Phoenix in 6 games.
THE EAST:
The Orlando Magic handed the Atlanta Hawks a record breaking ass-whooping which also lead to a 4 game sweep. The Magic’s points totals in all 4 games averaged 25 points per game higher than Atlanta PER GAME! Now, that is either a pathetic showing by a decent Hawks team, or the Magic are unstoppable. I think it’s actually a little of both to be honest. Dwight Howard of the Magic is a veritable one man team right now, and I’m not sure anyone in the NBA can stop his reign.
In the other series back east, you have the Cleveland Cavaliers battling it out against the Boston Celtics in a series tied at 2 games apiece. Lebron James was the favorite to win the MVP this year (which he did), and I think a lot of people thought that perhaps he would be a finals MVP also. That remains to be seen at this point, especially if the Cav’s can’t manage to beat the Celtics in this series. Are Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce still too dominant to beat, or are they too old to compete? Regardless of who wins this series, I don’t think either really has a chance against Orlando in the conference finals, especially since the Magic will be nicely rested after their sweep of Atlanta. Should be pretty interesting to see the remainder of the playoffs.

OK, I may be
a little biased here, but I get sick and tired of seeing cars go round and round in circles all year long, and hardly getting to see that beautiful pigskin flying through the air. I know for many Americans Nascar has it’s own pastime mystique, but there is so much more tradition to football in my eyes. You look in those stands at an NFL game and all you see is devotion to a team (whoever that may be), but with Nascar it just seems to be a bit dizzying really. Yes, I am aware that teams exist, and everyone has a favorite driver, but it’s not the same. I grew up on football so perhaps that is part of my bias here, but there is so much more in the way of possibility in terms of scheming and planning with football. I’m not trying to say that Nascar doesn’t have it’s own planning and scheming involved, but come on, how much preparation does it take to have a guy that sits behind the wheel of a car going in circles?? Other than the crews that build the cars, and the pit crews that maintain them during a race, I see no further preparation. I would also like to dispel the rumors that Nascar drivers are “athletes”. I understand that they can lose upwards of 10 lbs in a single race due to water release (sweating) and evaporation, but there is a lot more to being an athlete than sitting in a car trying to stay hydrated. Try running up and down a field all day long at full speed smashing your body into that of a 300 pound lineman whilst trying to hold on to an oblong shaped, slippery ball. Now that’s what I call an athlete. It’s someone that can give and take a lot more physically, as opposed to staying hydrated and keeping that wheel pointed to the left all day long. It’s not like REAL athletes don’t have to stay hydrated either!! Maybe I just don’t understand it well enough, especially since there are so many different drivers in so many different series’. But I can’t find myself interested enough to not really ever get into it enough to understand it. That is what makes America great though, is the freedom to choose which sports you love best. Cheer on America!

So the New Orleans Saints won the big game against the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 on Sunday. It was “destiny” as the Saints would call it, but it seemed as if the Saints’ defense showed up against a Colts offense didn’t. Drew Brees managed to pick up the game’s MVP award with 288 passing yards and 2 TD’s, while Peyton Manning had a pretty good game himself with 333 passing yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. The Colts were able to run the ball much better than the Saints with Joseph Addai rushing for 77 yards and scoring a TD on the ground. But the Saints and their “bend but don’t break” philosophy on defense allowed a lot of yards with little net result for the Colts. The Saints were not able to muster much of a running game on the flip side, with Reggie Bush staying pretty quiet with a measly 25 yards rushing while Pierre Thomas only put up 30 and no TD’s for either of them. Overall the Saints came to play, and the Colts did not. Not too bad for a team that has never even been to a Superbowl before, let alone having ever won it. That’s good work on head coach Sean Payton’s part by prepping his team very well against a very good Colts team. You can view all the stats and see all the pics at here at www.nfl.com. I am glad that they won personally, because I am sick and tired of the Colts being so good all the time. It’s much like the Patriots were a few years back.

This year’s Superbowl should turn out be relatively entertaining if you like watching a lot of passing plays in football. You have two teams that have very prolific and high powered offenses that can easily (and quickly) put up a lot of points through the air. Both also have very good (but under-rated) defenses too. My vote is Saints by 6, with a final score Colts 27, Saints 33. I see Drew Brees and Peyton Manning both having pretty good games, but the true undertone will be the respective running games and defenses (these two teams are pretty equal in both respects). The kicker to the game may actually turn out to be special teams, and there I believe the Saints have the edge with Reggie Bush. He may turn the game into a return-fest if the Colts aren’t careful. Should be a fun one to watch in any event.

Looks Like the San Diego Chargers are in for another season of disappointment if their star linebacker can’t keep his nose clean!! I never understood why a guy like this who has it all goes and screws up like this! You’d think missing the almost the entire season last year with a knee injury would be enough of a motivational factor for him. I’m sure Merriman will post bail and all that, but it’s still something that his team does not need. Look at what happened to the Atlanta Falcons after Micheal Vick was arrested for dog fighting, I rest my case!!

The Lazy Idiot is now set up for mobile viewing! It’s fully functional and looks pretty cool too (if I do say so myself). It is set up primarily for touchscreen mobile viewing, i.e. iPhones, Blackberry Touch, G-phones, and most other touchscreen devices. I am not sure how the viewing and/or navigation is on a non-touchscreen phone, but those of you with iPhones should be relatively used to the type of formatting that is used on the mobile version. To convert the page to mobile view, open up the site in a browser on your phone and then scroll to the bottom of the page. Once there, you should see an icon to turn mobile viewing on and off. Click on it to turn it on and then re-fresh your page and you’ll be set! Hope you all enjoy, and let me know what you think. Any and all feedback is welcome, as I am always trying and willing to try to come up with new idea on what and how to improve things on the site.
