So apparently the internet search giant GOOGLE has again partnered with cellphone design company HTC, and is in the developmental stages for their own version of the iPad. Google’s tablet would be running the CHROME browser, which is proprietary to Google, and the main physical design will be coming from HTC (who designs several phones for Google).   I can say that I like the way Google does things better than Apple for at least one reason: OPEN SOURCING. Apple is SO proprietary that devices can hardly modified or customized because their software just simply won’t allow for it (not without completely re-programming the device).  Google on the other hand, praises open source apps and customized programming for it’s products (mainly the droid phones running Google’s operating system). The two areas I believe Apple has the upper hand, is sleekness of design and innovation. They have perfected the art of making their products very sleek, slim, and lightweight, and in this day and age, smaller is considered better. They have also cornered the market with innovation in that they seem to come up with a lot of great ideas first, leaving everyone else to follow in their shadow, trying to improve on their design.  I would certainly be willing to put these two side by side, and see who outperforms who. But I guess we’ll just have to settle for tinkering with the iPad for now, since Google has yet to release such a device.   Read more tech info on the Google tab here:

Here are some pics of the new Apple iPad unveiled recently.  Just thought I’d post a few pics for those of you curious as to what it looks like. Once more info is available and released I’ll try and get my hands on a full spec sheet and post it.  Starting price on these will reportedly be $499.00 according to Apple’s website.

Hardware: Awkward to handle

While the iPad is super slim at only an inch thick, I had some difficulty handling it. At 1.5 pounds, it is too heavy to hold in one hand, which is troublesome if you plan on using it as an e-book reader. Other e-book readers, like Amazon's Kindle 2 or the COOL-ER e-reader, are much lighter in hand and therefore make for a much more comfortable user experience. Using two hands is much more comfortable, but if you're reading a long novel, that could get quite tiresom

I think this is a great idea!  I like the technology behind it, I just think it needs some additional refining with better hardware and software, and maybe a little less bulky, but it could prove to be the next generation of “laptop” p.c.’s.   I guess I would really have to play with one to give a final judgement, but reading about it sure makes me curious.

So the geniuses at Microsoft have finally decided to come off the perch and lower the cost of the Xbox 360 Elite (and all the lower ranked systems for that matter).  It’s about time, especially when you consider the fact that the cheap bastards can’t (or won’t) even figure out a way to include a WiFi antenna built-in to the system.  I see the PS3 with WIFI, and I even see the Wii, which is largely a kids’ system with it.  Wake up Microdicks, get with the program, stay competitive, and most of all, do the right thing by adding WIFI to your systems!! I rest my case.
