Hello again idiotos!
Are we in a musical slump?
I personally think so, especially if you listen to anything but rap, or pop. I listen to the radio as little as possible (because it’s mostly crap anymore), but when I do happen to hear what is on the FM, I feel like I am getting dumber just by listening. Some of this new music that is coming out makes me want to throw up in my mouth a little bit. I personally listen to rock/metal mostly, but not totally. In fact, I have quite a selection of all kinds of music on my Ipod, but what I am getting at is anyone who is, and has been a loyal listener of these types of music is seriously getting thrown to the wolves. I can respect new and different styles as much as anyone, especially given the fact that I myself am a musician. But all this stuff that we are being force fed through the radio and the t.v. is so over-produced, over-rated, and under creative, it just makes me sick. I mean, there is absolutely no talent or even an original thought put into this crap anymore. I don’t want to name any bands at the moment that I think are part of this musical (de)volution, as I don’t want to offend anyone and would like some input on what you all think about it. Even if you don’t share the same taste as I do musically, I would like to know what you think about today’s music, or what you know of it.
Makes me just want to rip my hair out (if I had any)!

I think a lot of these bands have talent inside of them or at least some sort of talent. I understand what you are saying though, every band, song, etc… is over produced, even the bands that have inspired us in the past. Like you, I won’t rip on any band cause we all have our own personal tastes in music but I can’t stand anything anymore. If I do listen to the radio it’s the Oldie station at least there you know what your getting! I think band’s of “NOW” are trying so hard to outdue the band’s of yesterday and when you get that type of competition when in fact they aren’t really competing with anyone but an Idea of what they should sound like and become something totally different then the rest of the musical world but, when they start trying to outdue, they only make themselves into a robotic machine that pumps out soon to be “HITS” that people listen to for a week and then dispose of them because we as indivudales are smarter then the MACHINE.
I agree, some of the individual musicians themselves are in fact talented, but it is as you say, a machine that is fed by the ignorance and willingness in certain people that keep buying these “cookie cutter” albums. When will people decide that they are capable of independent thought, and stop buying this junk so that we can finally make some room on the roster and the radio for some good bands and records?
I just tire of hearing the same old thing over and over again, with no end in sight!

Very little good stuff on the FM. I feel sorry for actual musicians that write and compose their own music when I see some young jail-bait make millions on shit they did not even write or had anything to do with.
It’s depressing.
I agree with you, there is very little on the FM at all. Unfortunately I am one of those actual musicians who write my own stuff, and you are absolutely correct that this jail-bait trend definitely sucks balls for any real musicians.
