Hello again everybody!
Ok, so today I would like to talk about any and all movies (good or bad) that you may have seen lately. And also, maybe some that I have seen as well.
Being that I am a LAZY IDIOT, means that I do not spend too much time at the movies. Mostly because it’s getting too expensive to see them in the theater, and because anymore you can pretty much buy them on DVD for the about the same price as two movie tickets. It’s highway robbery if you ask me. But I guess there is a sort of a special “feel” to a movie when seen in the the theater versus seen on a DVD. And hopefully, some of you have seen a few movies on either format recently that maybe you would like to comment on. Good or bad, I don’t care, I just want to hear your thoughts on what is out there to see.
The last one I actually saw in the theater was called “Vantage Point“(2008). Starring; Dennis Quaid, Forrest Whitaker, and William Hurt. It is a political thriller about the events surrounding the assassination of the president from 8 people’s point of view. It’s not too bad actually. It has a relatively progressive and thickening plot that tends to keep you involved for the most part. Basically, you get to see 8 different people’s reactions amidst the rather hectic and unclear events surrounding the assassination of the president at a peace convention in Spain. It is however, a little repetitive, and even maybe a little slow at times, but only because you have to see the events that take place several times throughout. I guess that is kind of the point of the whole movie though. The main thing that tends to break the monotony of the film is the fact that you do get to see the events that happen from 8 different points of view, instead of just the same one over and over again. Otherwise, a pretty good flick though. Definitely worth the watch.
Overall, I wold give it a 3 out of 5.
Other than “Vantage Point” , I have just seen a few that I rented on DVD recently.
The last one on DVD I saw was called “Beowulf “(2007) Rated (R) - (Unrated edition also available). Starring; Ray Winstone, Alngelina Jolie, Crispin Glover, and Anthony Hopkins. This movie chronicles and depicts various parts of the age old story of Beowulf and Grendel. Somewhat of a David and Goliath theme really, but still a very likeable story even today. It is comprised of the best animation I have ever seen in a film, actually it’s groundbreaking if you ask me. I think it revolutionizes animated movies in a very similar fashion that “The Matrix” revolutionized action movies. The story line could have been a little better however. It had no real character development at all. You are just kind of thrown right in to the mix of madness and mayhem. One good omen is that it is relatively graphic (which I am actually a fan of), and is not at all sparing on the violence and even some occasional gore. probably not the greatest movie for kids however, even though it is animated. But after all is said and done, I still think this is a very watchable and entertaining film, it just needed to be a little more clear on who the characters are, and where they came from. Good movie though!
Overall, I would have to give it a 3.5 out of 5.
I will be posting more reviews some more movies that I have seen in the very near future, but I would sure like some feedback on any and all movies you may have seen. Please feel free to write about any movies, old or new. Plese share your thoughts my fellow IDIOTS.
See ya very, very soon,
L.I.
